
What is an Active Support Unit?
An Active Support Unit (ASU) is a group of 18+ volunteers who may not want, or be able to volunteer on a weekly basis with a section or Scout Group, but still wish to volunteer and provide some skills to Scouting locally.

About Us
Torfaen’s Projectiles ASU is a team of individuals with a passion and specialisation in target sports. At present, we are able to organise the following activities for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers in and around Torfaen:
- Air Rifle Shooting
- Air Pistol Shooting
- Archery
- Tomahawk Throwing
- Paintballing (via external providers)
- Wild Slings
- Nerf Target Shooting / Combat
- Sporter Crossbow Shooting
- Small Bore (.22) Rifle Shooting (via external providers)
- ‘Soft’ Rifle Shooting (suitable for Squirrels and Beavers)

Parental Permission
Target Sports like Shooting are the only activities that The Scout Association require written parental permission for Young People to take part in.
