What is an Active Support Unit?
An Active Support Unit (ASU) is a group of 18+ volunteers who may not want, or be able to volunteer on a weekly basis with a section or Scout Group, but still wish to volunteer and provide some skills to Scouting locally.

Team PIGG is Torfaen’s camping and activities Active Support Unit (ASU)
Team PIGG meet regularly to camp with Scout and Explorer members from across torfaen. We take an active role in leading the district’s provision for the Dragon Award.
If this sounds like something you or your child would like to take part in, please email us.
What is the Dragon Award?
The Dragon Award encourages Scout Troops, Explorer Scout Units, Scout Network and their Leaders to camp more in unfamiliar places. This Award recognises the contribution camping makes to building successful teams and the effort young people and their leader teams make in achieving our top awards.
Joining Team PIGG
Team PIGG is an Active Support Unit, meaning that technically, membership is only open to adults over the age of 18.
However, the monthly camps that we organise are open to all youth members of Scouts age and above inside and around Torfaen. If your Young Person is already a member of a local Scout Troop, or Explorer Unit, please speak with your section leaders to arrange their participation.
